550 000 ADDAX METERS TO BE DEPLOYED BY EVN BULGARIA
ADD BULGARIA, ADD GRUP’s partner in Bulgaria, inked a major deal with EVN Bulgaria for the delivery of 550 000 smart electricity meters based on PRIME technology. The project will span over the next four years, with the first delivery planned till the end of 2016.
For EVN Bulgaria this project is especially important as by the end of the project, 80% of all meters in its network will be with remote reading. EVN has been using ADDAX technology since 2009 with more than 500 000 meters communicating via PLC. Over the years the technology changed from FSK communication, to S-FSK and now the time has come for PRIME. ADDAX AMI System demonstrated its reliability over the years. ADD’s bid featured a reliable AMI system with proven benefits thanks to its combination of best technologies available on the market: PRIME, advanced security and favorable commercial conditions.
The current technology will be based on PRIME v. 1.3.6 with possibility for further upgrade to PRIME v. 1.4
At the same time solution shall also include Thales keyAuthority – a hardened cryptographic appliance that provides high assurance key management to users of storage applications and systems with embedded encryption. Thales keyAuthority supports the widely-accepted industry standard KMIP (Key Management Interoperability Protocol) to allow comprehensive endpoint interoperability.
The top-notch solution first integrated with ADDAX AMI solution in Latvia is will ensure a high security for EVN Bulgaria’s ADDAX AMI system operation by:
- Automating key lifecycle management across all layers of the energy supply chain
- Lowering the risk of security breaches with high assurance, reliable hardware designed to FIPS 140-2 level 3
- Centralizing policy using a single approach to control and audit keys
- Dramatically shortening the development and implementation with Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP)
More information about this project as well as experience in other large AMI roll-outs can be obtain from ADD GRUP team at European Utility Week 2016 in Barcelona (booth No.: 3G109)
